After the tremendous success of last year’s venison sandwich experiment, Arby’s has brought back the popular meal just in time for deer season, but this time on a larger scale.
Last year the fast-food chain had just 17 restaurants scattered across the country participating in the special offer. Beginning on October 31, 2017 the venison sandwich will be available at every one of Arby’s 3,300 locations across the United States. An elk sandwich will also be on the menu, but only at 3 specific restaurants in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana.
“If people are interested in trying the sandwich, the only way to guarantee they can get one is to get there when we open or a little before and make sure they are in line,” chief marketing advisor Jim Taylor warns. “Just like the folks last year.”
“Right now we are trying to figure out how much venison we can get,” Arby’s chief of Marketing, Rob Lynch, told USA Today. “It’s not as easy as going down the street and buying a chicken, but we absolutely are exploring opportunities to broaden this initiative to give venison to more hunters across the country.”
Due to USDA laws concerning the sale of wild game, all of the meat has been imported from a free-range farm in New Zealand. Like last year, this means a limited supply. According to Taylor, Arby’s venison sandwich season marks the “biggest venison promotion in the world” made by any restaurant. The sandwich will be served with crispy onions, berry sauce, and a toasted bun.
