Keith Warren brought a .50 caliber BMG along for a recent whitetail management hunt.
He decided to go for a head shot on a doe from a seated position with bi-pod support. The doe went down immediately from what appeared to be a perfect shot, but what Keith found in the field surprised everyone. The dead doe was bleeding from its eyes and mouth, but there wasn’t a bullet wound anywhere on the body. After skinning and examining the skull, Keith concluded that his shot was a miss, but the bullet’s shock-wave killed the deer as it passed less than an inch from the animal’s head.
