“I looked down the barrel, and I’m like… I’m not gonna do it.” That was the mindset of Michael Davis, a Louisiana man who was approached by a masked man with a gun. Davis was washing his car at a public DIY car wash with his brother, a disabled veteran, when he saw someone approach. Assuming it was a panhandler, he said that he wasn’t interested. As he turned he saw the gun and made a decision to stand his ground assuming that the robber would likely kill him and take his keys if he did nothing.
With the pressure washer already in his hand, Davis sprayed the attacker in the face and temporarily blinded the thug. While the thief was disoriented, Davis took the offensive and tried to use the sprayer as a melee weapon. Before he could make contact, a second thief approached from behind. Davis blasted the second thug with the hose and sent the thugs running. Before they could return and finish the job, Davis was able to join his brother and make his escape.
