A video showing a man bursting into flame after being struck by a police taser has gone viral this week.
The incident happened almost five years ago, but the footage was only just shared this week on Facebook and Twitter. The man is seen resisting arrest and could be heard daring one of the officers to shoot him with a taser.
The Daily Mail reports another officer sprayed tear gas on the suspect seconds before the taser was fired. As a result, the taser’s spark ignited the gas and set the suspect ablaze.
The video was shared on YouTube briefly before being flagged and removed for violent content.
“I feel like taser-ing your mother. Why don’t you taser?” the suspect asked in French. “No, I don’t want to,” one officer replied before striking the suspect with a baton.
Despite the officer’s hesitation, the suspect was eventually tased. “Guys, don’t use gas!” one office yelled as the suspect collapsed onto the ground. “Who the f*** gassed him?!”
One officer threw himself onto the suspect in an attempt to put out the fire. Police report that the suspect was later arrested and suffered no serious injuries.
