A motorcyclist was headed home after a day on the road when he saw what no one wants to see, blue lights in his side mirrors. He quickly pulled over, flipped up his visor, and shut off his bike. The first thing he hears the officer say is “don’t reach for that gun!” Instinctively he puts his hands in the air and requests that the officer disarm him “just to be safe.” The officer is courteous and says he’ll give the rider his weapon back in a moment.
The officer clarifies that he removed the man’s weapon because it was on his right hip and the officer did not want to misconstrue any actions as the rider reached for his wallet. After that the traffic stop is about as mild as it could be, the officers don’t even object to being filmed from his helmet cam. Once the traffic stop is resolved the rider and officers discuss the weapon transfer and thank the rider for cooperating. The cops end up thank him for carrying a weapon and encourage him to continue.
