CraigsList is an incredibly convenient alternative to hosting a garage sale, but it has become increasingly dangerous over the years. So many people have been robbed, raped, or murdered from a CraigsList meetup that many police stations have offered to host meetings between strangers.
On Wednesday November 25th, 2015 in Aiken, South Carolina, 23-year-old Frank Frazier Jr. thought he and a friend could make a quick buck from a couple trying to buy his car. When they met at a gas station, he pulled a gun and demanded their money. The man and woman, who have remained anonymous, were startled but stayed calm. Frazier assumed that the man would be in charge and his girlfriend would simply cower beside him. It seemed like an easy mark and he paid no attention to the woman. This assessment would be the last mistake Frazier ever made.
As Frazier turned his weapon on the man, the girlfriend drew her concealed weapon and pulled the trigger.
Frazier was pronounced dead at the scene and deputies are currently on the look out for his accomplice. The couple was unharmed not by luck, but because they protected themselves and refused to be another number in the growing statistics of CraigsList victims.
