50 years ago he made an argument about the pledge, it’s about time America heard it again

In the mid 1960s Red Skelton stood on a simple stage and took a serious pause in his normally hilarous comedy hour.

With the eyes of the American public upon him, Skelton took this opportunity to remind us all the true meaning behind the pledge of allegiance.

After he was finished, Skelton brought up a concern about changes to the public school system and the values of the country he loved so dear.

50 years later his argument is still worth discussing.
