Internationally famous model Gigi Hadid has come under fire this week for *gasp* defending herself from a stalker. While visiting Milan for a fashion show, Hadid was lifted off the ground by a stalker while walking the streets. He allegedly grabbed her ass and she struck him in the face with her elbow which sent him running. Shortly after images and video of the assault went viral, Hadid was criticized by fashion reporters for over-reacting.
Showbiz released a headline “NOT MODEL BEHAVIOUR Gigi Hadid aggressively lashes out and ELBOWS fan in the FACE after he tries to pick her up.” Outraged, the model lashed out at her critics on twitter saying, “I’m a human being and had every right to defend myself. How dare that idiot think he has the right to man-handle a complete stranger.”
One fan came to her defense tweeting an alternative headline “GOOD FOR HER: Gigi Hadid Reacts In Totally Appropriate Way When Random Man Tries To Lift Her In The Street.”
We’re not sure what the cultural norms are in Italy, but in America if a stranger lifts a young woman off the ground and grabs her ass, she is allowed to defend herself by any means necessary 100% of the time.
