Medal of Honor Recipient Dakota Meyer and social media icon Dan Bilzerian are in a feud over the self proclaimed “King of Instagram’s” Las Vegas shooting video. Meyer criticized Bilzerian for shooting a Snapchat video instead of helping the victims at the Route 91 country music festival.

Many victims took videos of the chaos around, but Bilzerian’s selfie-style clip showed nothing more than his own face. “Holy f***, this girl just got shot in the fucking head,” Bilzerian says as he runs past several injured people. “So f***ing crazy,” he added. A few minutes later he added another video clip saying he was running to find a gun.
Meyer argues that there were plenty of other civilians and veterans, like Taylor Winston, working to save lives without stopping to boost their social media presence. “Either A) he’s a liar and looking for followers or B) he’s a coward because he just passed someone who is hurt,” Meyer said.
A new video has shown Bilzerian running up to a police officer and asking for a gun. The officer told Bilzerian, “No, get the f*** away from me right now! I don’t know who the f*** you are!” Before Bilzerian could ask again, the officer added, “You know better than that.”
There’s no argument that Bilzerian was looking for a firearm, and he was clearly seen helping victims later in the evening. Neither of those facts mitigate Meyer’s accusation that Bilzerian was more focused on his own fame than stopping the shooter or helping the victims.
“This is what kills me about people like you. Always playing ‘operator dress up’ and so so [sic] tough when the cameras are on,” Meyer said. “A woman just got shot in the head and you are running away filming that’s not what operators do.”
While Bilzerian’s defenders have been more than ready to justify why he was running, few have been able to explain why he need to take a selfie-video during a crisis.
Bilzerian himself has followed the same line of defense. “So if we follow that retard’s logic we’d probably have 600 dead if everyone stood their ground,” he said in reference to Meyer’s admonishment. “Just to the be clear the first fucking thing I did after we dropped those two girls to hospital was I went and got my gun and I went straight fucking back there and I was there for three fucking hours.”
The professional poker player failed to make any response to Meyer’s actual accusation about self-promotion during a crisis.
