Officers rushed to the scene after a Deltona woman’s 911 call suddenly ended with a scream. Volusia County Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Ferrari arrived to hear gunshots and joined deputy Eric Cheek outside the woman’s home. The video below features clips taken from Deputy Ferrari’s body camera.
According to a report issued to The Daytona Beach News Journal, Deputy Cheek heard the shooter, 26-year-old Emmanuel Rosado, say “You’re going to die today,” while approaching the residence. Cheek reported he heard a child’s voice desperately say “don’t kill her, don’t kill her,” before more shots rang out. Rosado closed the door and locked the deadbolt before Cheek could enter the home. More shots were fired and Cheek took cover.
Deputy Ferrari joined Deputy Cheek after Rosado had shot his wife, Victoria Rosado, before the eyes of their three children. Deputy Ferrari ran into the line of fire to pull the injured woman to safety. Bleeding profusely, the young mother pleads for the officer to save her children who are still trapped inside the home. Ferrari dragged the injured woman to the neighbor’s house before attempting to rescue the children.
Ferrari managed to lead the children to safety through the backdoor of the home. As the children left the building, Rosado followed and was quickly greeted at gunpoint by multiple deputies ready to accept his surrender. Rosado has been charged with multiple counts of attempted murder in the first degree. It was later discovered that the couple had been arguing over custody rights of their 1-year-old when Volusia asked her estranged husband to leave. When he refused, she called 911 and Rosado and he responded with violence.
