Golfer Paige Spiranac is completely against the LPGA’s new dress code that many are calling the “cleavage elimination program.”
According to the LPGA’s new dress code policy, players must “present themselves in a professional manner to reflect a positive image for the game.” This means that “plunging necklines” and skirts, even those with built in shorts, are would no longer be allowed. Leggings and joggers would also be banned.
Spiranac is one of the most popular female golfers known for her confident attitude, positive body image, and unique trick shots, all of which are featured in her viral videos like the one below.
The gorgeous athlete says this new policy sets women back more than a century. In the early 1900s women were suggested to only hit the ball 70-80 yards since “the posture and gestures required for a full swing are not particularly graceful when the player is clad in female dress.”
“I fear that these new rules are stifling the growth of the women’s game,” Spiranac wrote this week in an op ed for Fortune magazine. “These new rules may have been put in place as an exclusionary measure to make sure that only players who echo golf’s more traditional, conservative norms are attracted to and excel at the sport.”
She released the following image on Instagram to drive home her point.
