Hornady showed off their new RAPiD vehicle safe at SHOT Show.
The nifty little gun accessory features a patent-pending mounting system that uses an inflatable bladder to hold the safe in place. Hornady wanted to create an affordable safe that could be mounted in nearly any vehicle without requiring any modifications to the cabin.
The 14 gauge steel safe is first locked to the seat mount with a 14 gauge steel cable. This method is standard for most basic safes in the same price range, but Hornady’s bladder system prevents the RAPiD from shifting or rattling around.
Once the safe has been securely locked to the seat, the bladder panel can be inserted between seat and console. The bladder inflates ith a few pumps from the blood-pressure cuff bulb.
The safe remains secure and easily accessible from the driver’s seat. The bladder can be deflated and the safe stored out of sight under a seat as necessary.
The safe can be opened by keypad or RFID chip, which can be stored in a wristband, key fob, or security sticker. The safe is powered by either four AAA batteries or from the vehicles 12 V lighter socket.
The RAPiD vehicle safe comes standard with a 12V adaptor, RFID wristband, two RFID stickers, RFID key fob, two barrel keys, and the security cable.
