Back in October of 2015 Playboy shocked the world, a first for the company since the advent of Hustler and Penthouse.
Unlike their no-holds-barred competition, Playboy announced that they would be doing away with their trademark nude bunnies, which is kind of like a steak restaurant that only serves tofu.
Attempting to rebrand themselves to match publications like Maxim, Playboy tried the “no nudity” experiment. This March they’re going back to basics with their first nude model in nearly a year and a half. 25-year-old Connor Hefner, Hugh Hefner’s son and the Chief Creative Officer who came up with the “no nudity” policy, discussed the company’s decision to back-track. “I’ll be the first to admit that the way in which the magazine portrayed nudity was dated, but removing it entirely was a mistake,” he told the mirror.
The March issue’s cover story titled “Naked Is Normal” suggest that Playboy will be back to normal for good. “Nudity was never the problem because nudity isn’t a problem,” said Connor. “Today, we’re taking our identity back and reclaiming who we are.”
Elizabet Elam, Playboy’s first nude model since 2015, graces the March cover in a simple classic style that dates back to the publication’s first issues. The 25-year-old model and outdoor adventurer has been on the move since the age of 18. Take a sneak peak at her body of work with the gallery below.
