Winchester has just been awarded a $16 million ammunition contract from the FBI.
“The FBI uses one of the most rigorous ammunition tests ever developed and we are very proud that Winchester has been identified as having the best product performance,” said Winchesters VP of marketing and sales, Matt Campbell, in a press release on Thursday.
According to the contract, Winchester will supply the FBI with 180 grain .40 S&W pistol cartridges in hollow point, FMJ, and frangible training loads.
According to the award notice, the FBI also awarded Hornady with a $2 million contract for the same caliber.
Last October the FBI had awarded Hornady a Fixed Price Indefinite Delivery/Quantity contract for their 175 grain Critical Duty .40 S&W Flex Lock ammunition. “We are thrilled to obtain this contract from our nation’s highest law enforcement agency as it gives credence to the performance and reliability of this product,” said VP Jason Hornady in a statement.
