Emma Watson, known for her starring role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series, is under attack by feminists across the globe after she posed topless for Vanity Fair.
The former child star turned social activist was featured in the magazine’s cover article “The Bewitching Emma Watson: Not Your Mother’s Disney Princess” for her upcoming role in the live action version of Beauty and the Beast. Like most Vanity Fair articles, this one included a photoshoot. The picture in question shows Watson in a lace skirt without a blouse and open cut shawl around her shoulders.
Critics were quick to label the young star a “Bad Feminist” and a hypocrite for putting her figure on full display and leaving little to the imagination. Watson’s fans on twitter fought back against the angry feminists. One supporter wrote “It saddens me to see Emma Watson called a ‘bad feminist’ when part of feminism is the freedom to express your body however you wish to.”
Another commented “Feminism is about giving women FREE CHOICE. They can cover up or expose their bodies as they want. You’ve missed the point.”
